New revelations about a lost sunken
city discovered in Wisconsin
Book Review - Atlantis in
Wisconsin
by Frank Joseph
Halfway between Milwaukee
and Madison is Aztalan, an archaeological park with an ancient
earthen temple-mound known as the Pyramid of the Moon. Frank Joseph
believes it is part of a 21-acre city that was once the North
American headquarters for an enormous Atlantean copper mining
operation. 500,000 tons of copper were taken from mines in the Upper
Peninsula of Michigan, processed in Aztalan, and then shipped to
Europe. The sudden closing of the mines, the sudden end of the
Bronze Age in Europe and the sudden sinking of Atlantis all happened
at the same time, 1198 BCE.
First Nations traditions say
some of their clans came from the "Old Red Land" which was destroyed
by a great flood. Joseph finds a connection between the native
American name for Rock Lake, Tyranena, and the ancient, pre-Celtic
"Land Beneath the Sea," Tir-na-nog.
Aztalan is a sacred site,
perhaps because of the natural Earth energy of the place. A couple
who live on the shore of Rock Lake have seen, on a dozen occasions,
a large boulder sticking out of the water at places they knew no
such rock existed. It's visible for a day or two and then gone. An
Oneida shaman identified it as a spirit stone, which moves in and
out of different dimensions. It confirms that Rock Lake is a sacred
place.
Far from unique, Aztalan is
one of many similar sites in North America, including Mound City,
OH, Heritage Park near Milford, MI, Massassaga Mound, ON and Perch
Lake Mound, NY. When the similar C.L. Lewis Stone Mound in Indiana
was excavated in 1956, it was found to be an elaborate ancient
burial place, containing many copper items and mining tools, similar
to ones used in Aztalan.
As a seeker of knowledge
about sacred places, this reader was tantalized by references to
other sites, such as Missouri Hill, an ancient mystery school
located a few miles from Rock Lane, and a lunar altar on Indian
Hill, located only a two-hour drive from Chicago. Joseph has written
other books on similar topics, and more are anticipated.
